Brian Meyer, Founder

Brian Meyer is a seasoned investment management executive with over 30 years of expertise across legal, compliance, and operational domains in hedge funds and private equity. Brian is currently registered as a director with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority and has over 20 years of experience serving as a director of Cayman Islands and Luxembourg funds and entities.

Brian is also a frequent speaker and moderator at industry conferences and has published thought leadership on legal operations, fund compliance, and technology.

As Co-Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of Fir Tree Partners, Brian played a pivotal role in overseeing the firm’s strategic direction and operational functions as assets under management grew to $13 billion during his tenure. He has extensive experience in fund formation, corporate governance, management company operations, and tax optimization structures across jurisdictions globally. At Fir Tree Partners, he helped shape strategic initiatives, managed high-stakes transactions, and led firm-wide compliance, governance and regulatory efforts. Beyond legal and compliance functions, he has overseen Fir Tree Partner’s HR, risk management, real estate and crisis response.

Brian has deep experience in applying technology to legal operations and compliance. At Fir Tree Partners, Brian designed and implemented its technology-driven legal operations program that achieved notable efficiency gains, earning Fir Tree’s Legal Department the Association of Corporate Counsel’s2020 Value Champion” award.

Prior to working at Fir Tree Partners, Brian served as a managing director at Veronis Suhler Stevenson (VSS), a media focused private equity firm, the general counsel of The Official Information Company, a high-growth private equity portfolio holding company comprised of five separate businesses, and senior corporate counsel at Revlon, Inc., where he handled U.S. and international M&A and financings. He began his career at Latham and Milbank, where he focused on M&A, bank financings, and private equity.

He holds a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was Executive Editor of the California Law Review, and an A.B. in History, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of California, Berkeley.

Brian also serves as a board member of Wellness in the Schools, a national nonprofit organization focused on improving nutrition and wellness for children in underserved public schools.
